CHIP’N’CHUNK COOKIES
INGREDIENTS
- Butter — 1 stick
- Brown sugar — 1 cup & 2 tbsp
- Granulated sugar — 1 cup & 2 tbsp
- Egg — 1
- Vanilla extract — ½ teaspoon
- All-purpose flour — 1 ½ cup
- Baking soda — ½ teaspoon
- Chopped up chocolate bar or chocolate chips — ½ cup
TEMPERATURE
Preheat your oven to 375°.
WET INGREDIENTS
Add softened butter and 1 cup and 2 tablespoons of brown sugar before mixing.
Add the same amount of granulated sugar — 1 cup, 2 tablespoons — and mix again.
Add 1 egg and ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract and mix once more.
(Note — I personally have a KitchenAid Stand Mixer that I absolutely love, but any mixer should work.)
DRY INGREDIENTS
Add 1 ½ cups of flour into a small bowl — don’t add it to the mixer just yet!
Add ½ teaspoon of baking soda to the flour.
If you used unsalted butter, add a pinch or two of salt to the flour mixture. (If you used salted butter, disregard!)
MIX!
Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients slowly. (Do not add the flour mixture all at once. It will get absolutely everywhere.)
Put the mixture into the fridge for 5 minutes while you chop up a chocolate bar, and once you are finished with that, add it in! If you want to skip the hassle, chocolate chips work too.
I personally think that using both chocolate chips and chocolate chunks gives the cookies a better texture, but either way is fine.
Finally…
Generously coat your hands in flour, and begin making medium-sized dough-globes to put onto your parchment paper-covered baking sheet.
BAKE
Bake for 16 to 20 minutes. If you’d prefer a crispier brownie, leave it in a few minutes longer.
ENJOY!
