Chocolate Chip Cookie in a Jar
Ingredients:
- 1 ⅔ cups Flour
- 1 ½ cups Chocolate Chips
- ½ cup Sugar
- ½ cup Brown Sugar
- ¾ teaspoon Baking Soda
To Mix and Bake Add:
- ½ cup Butter
- 2 Eggs
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
Directions
- First layer dry ingredients and make sure to compact the ingredients in each layer before adding the next ingredient by tapping the jar on a table
- Place funnel in mouth of 1 quart wide mouth Mason jar
- First, add flour, then baking soda, sugar, brown sugar, and chocolate chips.
- You can use a long wooden skewer to distribute the ingredients more evenly and break any clumping ingredients
- Write instructions for how to bake on the jar:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
- Beat the wet ingredients of softened butter, eggs, and vanilla in a large bowl.
- Pour the dry ingredients from the jar into the bowl with the wet ingredients and mix completely.
- Place spoonfuls of cookie dough on a parchment-lined cookie sheet
- Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
- Enjoy!
Salad in a Jar
- Note: any type of salad can be made in a jar so have fun experimenting with different ingredients. Be sure to follow the general steps of the order to add layered ingredients in order to keep your salad fresh and not soggy from dressing.
- General order: The dressing goes at the bottom, followed by crunchy vegetables, protein, softer vegetables, grains, cheese, nuts, and lettuce at the top.
- Example Ingredients:
- 1 ½ Tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 ½ Tablespoon olive oil
- Pinch of salt
- ¼ cup chopped cucumbers
- ¼ cup shredded carrots
- ⅓ cup chickpeas
- ¼ cup chopped cherry tomatoes
- ¼ cup cooked quinoa
- ¼ cup feta, or vegan feta cheese
- 2-3 Tablespoons roasted sunflower seeds
- 1-2 cups romaine lettuce
- Instructions:
- Add lemon juice, olive oil, and salt to bottom of jar and swirl (or 3 Tablespoons of desired dressing)
- Layer the ingredients in this order: cucumbers, carrots, chickpeas (or protein of choice), tomatoes, quinoa, feta, sunflower seeds and lettuce
- Close the jar and store in fridge till ready to eat
- When ready to eat, shake the jar and eat right out of it, or pour into a bowl.
Overnight Oats in a Jar
- Ingredients:
- ⅓ cup oats rolled or quick
- ¾ cup milk of choice
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup or other liquid sweetener (like honey)
- 2 tablespoons chia seeds
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Handful of blueberries
- Instructions:
- Mix all ingredients except for the blueberries in a glass jar. Refrigerate for 5-10 minutes.
- 5-10 minutes after the initial mixing, stir the mixture again to break up clumps of chia seeds.
- Allow pudding to soak for at least 2 hours or overnight in the fridge
- Top with blueberries (or topping of choice like sliced bananas, dates, a dollop of yogurt)
Hot Cocoa in a Jar
- Ingredients:
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup chocolate chips
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 16-ounce mason jar with lid
- Instructions:
- In the mason jar, layer the cocoa powder, sugar, chocolate chips, and top with the cinnamon stick.
- You can use a funnel to make sure all of the dry ingredients evenly layer into the jar without making a mess.
- Place the contents of the jar in a medium saucepan with 8 cups of milk. Simmer until the chocolate is melted and the hot cocoa is warm
- Alternatively, warm desired amount of milk, pour into the jar, and shake to melt chocolate to enjoy right from the jar.
