Opportunities for High School/Teen Journalists

Opportunities for High School/Teen Journalists

For those of you with an alumni network and/or older students: 1) Just Media is a new, national hub for storytelling and reporting on justice issues. Their Uprising Fellowship will support emerging writers, 18-24, to report on policing or justice reform politics. They’ll get training, support publishing with a partner outlet, and a small stipend. Interested? Apply here. (They’ll be accepting applications on a rolling basis as funds and support are available.)
2) Calling all high schoolers in the United States! A freelance journalist is looking to feature US high school students from all walks of life regarding their favorite self-care activities during the pandemic. There’s a lot of fear, uncertainty, anxiety, and stress at this time — how do you cope? If you are interested in sharing your story, please fill out this form and a journalist will be in touch. (LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and disabled voices to the front. All sources must consent to having their image, first name, and grade published in the story.)
