Interview With New Trainer

Macy Christal

Where did you go to college?

Endicott College.

What previous schools have you worked at?

I just graduated in May of this year. I have worked the past two summers on the Athletic Training Staff for the volleyball festival in Phoenix, One Soccer Camps, and Cate Sports Academy.

When did you decide to become a trainer? Why did you choose to become a trainer?

When I was in high school. I played volleyball, soccer, and basketball over my four years and had a few injuries, so I spent a lot of time with my athletic trainer. In doing so, I started learning basic tapings and developing my interest in the field.

What do you like about laguna athletics?

Everyone at Laguna is so friendly and easy to work with! The athletes I’ve met are all very driven to excel at their sports which makes it easy for me to help guide them through rehab programs, and I know that they are staying focused and following through with what I ask.

What is your favorite sport?

To play, definitely volleyball. To watch, that’s tough but probably between volleyball, football, and hockey.

What is your opinion of stretching?

It’s very important that all athletes stretch and do mobility work.  Stretching is a key part of injury prevention, it is important to stretch and warm up your muscles before and after you lift or play.

What is an important exercise?

All core work, everyone can benefit from a stronger core it impacts your performance in any sport. A strong core can also be a big part of injury prevention.

What is a fun fact about you that nobody knows?

I played four years of college volleyball.

What is an interesting fact about the human body and working out?

The longest muscle in the body is the Sartorius, which runs over all your quadriceps in the front part of your upper leg.
