Tips for your Best Spirit Week
1. Go Big or Go Home
The number one rule for spirit week is GO ALL OUT! I’m talking face paint, body paint, knee socks, headbands, hats, glasses, wigs, and anything else you can find that pertains to the theme of the given day. If you think that your grey t-shirt and ankle socks are enough spirit for color day—they’re not. Not participating because you’re afraid of looking weird is not a valid excuse! Honestly, you’re more likely to look different if you aren’t participating in all the fun!
2. You don’t need to spend a fortune (or any money at all) on your spirit week outfits
Although going to American Apparel or the Halloween store for your spirit week outfits might be fun at first, it gets VERY expensive VERY quickly. Using old clothes you forgot were in your closet, going to thrift stores like GoodWill, or even going to CVS or the Dollar Store can save you lots of money! Your outfits will end up just as great and possibly even more creative!
3. Spirit week is not a time to break dress code
Although your outfits during spirit week are probably 10 times crazier than the normal school week, you still have to make sure that what you are wearing is appropriate for school. Just remember that Spirit Week isn’t an excuse to wear the most scandalous outfit you own!
4. Going solo can be just as fun as coordinating with your friends
If none of your friends want to dress up like Cat Woman with you on superhero day, don’t feel the need to wear whatever they are wearing! Although it can be fun to coordinate outfits with your best friends, there is nothing wrong with doing your own thing!
5. Make sure you are comfortable!
If you are not comfortable enough in an outfit to spend the whole day going to classes in it, you will regret wearing it! If you are set on a certain outfit that may end up making you too hot (keep in mind how the temperature has been lately) or uncomfortable, it would be a good idea to bring an extra outfit in your backpack just incase!
