Coachella is a festival that is looked forward to by thousands of people. Some of those people include the students of the school. The anticipation for the line-up each year grows because the popularity of the festival has been increasing each festival season. Last year’s line-up was fantastic. The line-up included OutKast, Arcade Fire, Lana Del Rey and many more. The line-up usually tends to the desires and interests of the teenage and young adult crowd; however, this year its target range for attendees has changed. The line up this year includes AC/ DC and Steely Dan, which are cool bands, but should stay in the decade that they were considered cool during. The Coachella lineup is also weak because the bands and performers chosen were only relevant or noteworthy 2009-2012, like Ratatat, Lykke Li, SBTRKT, Marina and the diamonds and Fitz and the Tantrums. All these bands and performers are great, but they were not who was expected to perform during 2015.
This year’s line-up does not include Childish Gambino, who many were expecting to perform at Coachella this year. A big pleasant surprise, however, was Drake, an unexpected, mainstream performer who many people will flock to see because he does not usually perform at festivals. Regardless of a good lineup or not, you can always find entertaining performers. Festivals, in general, are about the experience you get to endure. Do not base your enjoyment of a festival on the lineup.
