Science teacher Zack Moore introduced a one-semester engineering elective for the first time in the Upper School that offers
3-D Printing, Bio-mimicry, building construction, wiring, programming, and robot building. I sat down with Mr. Moore and asked him some questions concerning the course and its future:
Q: In your opinion, how did the first semester of Intro to Engineering go?
A: “It was a learning experience.”
Q: What do you hope students will take away from this course?
A: “I hope they take away an interest in engineering, improved sense of problem solving, critical thinking and a new appreciation of the design-thinking model.”
Q: Since you just finished the first semester of this course, what changes do you see in the future?
A: “I want to make the current introductory course for grades 7-9, and the advanced engineering course an upper-school-only course with a physics requirement.”

So glad the LBS is expanding its STEM program!
