Unlocking the Secrets of Wabi-Sabi in Art
Monday – Friday, July 7 – 11, 9:30 am – 3:15 pm
Wabi-sabi is a beauty of things imperfect, impermanent, humble, and unconventional. Weathered wood, hand-made paper, a fallen leaf, bird prints in the sand, blossoms scattered on a perfectly groomed pebbled pathway, the frayed edge of your grandmother’s lace tablecloth… wabi-sabi is woven into your spirit and recognized by your heart and mind.
Explore this inspiring aesthetic and philosophy as you discover and celebrate wabi-sabi in art and writing. This creative journey culminates in paintings (abstract and representational—in watercolor, acrylic, and ink), printmaking projects, photography, and mixed-media collages. Create innovative and exciting art pieces using techniques that render ideas and impressions with confidence, freedom, and fluency.
