From Lindsay Branham class of 2001. She will be on campus Wednesday (2/5) speaking with the Journalism class at 1:00 and Thursday (2/6) at 8:00 speaking in the Leadership class. She is also having an event on Saturday (2/8) at Deep Sea Tasting Room on the Wharf (Conway Family). While this is not an “alumni event,” we are working with her to spread the word to our alumni community, so please feel free to attend and/or pass along to those who may be interested in attending.
My name is Lindsay Branham and I graduated from LBS in 2001 from the high school. I believe Ann Conway may have called to let you know I would reach out. I am very excited to return to Santa Barbara over the next 10 days to premiere a short film I created through the non-profit I co-founded, Discover the Journey. The film is called They Came at Night at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. It is a short drama about an abducted child soldier who risks his life to flee from Joseph Kony’s Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) deep in the bush of central Africa after years of being forced to fight. When capture appears imminent, he encounters a stranger who must decide whether to help him – risking his own life and the respect of his community.
Simultaneous to its festival debut at SBIFF, the film is serving as the centerpiece of a joint Invisible Children and Discover The Journey on-the-ground campaign called Mobile Cinema, which educates communities that have been affected by the Lord’s Resistance Army about how to forgive and accept escapees from the rebel army as a non-violent strategy to end the war.
Firstly, I would love to let all alumni know about the screenings and hope they come! The film plays in the Dramatic Short Series Fri Feb 7th at 10 AM at Metro 4,
1pm on and at 2pm on Sunday Feb 9th at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art. I will be at both screenings.

The event passcode is: DTJ
Please let me know if there are any other creative ways to reach out to alumni.
