Hello Awesome Educators!
My publishers and I are hosting a writing contest for tween writers. We’re excited about offering an opportunity for young writers to be published in the sequel to my first book, Charis: Journey to Pandora’s Jar! You might also be interested to know that we’ve created a free, study guide (common core friendly) for the first book and plan to do the same for its sequel.
Please note, books are discounted when ordered by schools in bulk. Also, I’m happy to provide a complimentary copy of my first book upon request in either a .pdf, .prc (Kindle) or .epub (Nook) format.
Thank you for sharing this exciting opportunity with your students and fellow educators!

Writing Prompt:
Research and read the Greek myth of King Midas. The myth tells the story of King Midas who is rewarded the wish of
his choice by Dionysus, the God of Wine. In his search for more wealth and power, King Midas wished that all he
touched be changed to gold. The result of his wish is catastrophic, as everything King Midas touched became lifeless,
rigid, precious metal. Everything.
Rewrite the myth of King Midas. Place the action in a modern-day setting, using figures from pop culture and current
social events. Demonstrate the myth’s theme or message. Be creative and don’t merely summarize the myth. Your myth
will be evaluated in two ways: on how well you demonstrate the “moral of the story” and on the quality of your writing.Writing Contest Marketing Correct
