Dear Ms. McHale,
I am writing you from UCSB Sustainability to ask if you can help us recruit volunteers for our conference. We still need around 60 volunteers, so if you could please tell anyone that you think would be interested in volunteering or helping us get volunteers. We are also offering community service hours for it.
The California Higher Education Sustainability Conference (CHESC), hosted by UC Santa Barbara, invites students, faculty, and key stakeholders from campuses throughout California to come together and discuss issues of sustainability. The conference will be June 23rd to the 27th. We have the four systems of higher education attending: Private and Independent Colleges, CCC, CSU and UC campuses. CHESC provides an opportunity for a wide variety of stakeholders working on campus sustainability to share their successes and to learn from others from around the state. It would be a great way to engage in community service that promotes environmental issues.
The kind of work that we are looking for is simple event staff tasks like helping set up, passing out and collecting evaluations, directing speakers and moderators to where they need to be, helping people find service locations (i.e. bathrooms, on-campus housing, meeting places for field trips). If you would like to stay for the conference after volunteering and attend some of the sessions, you can get the volunteer rate, which is $15.00 instead of the regular rate of $549.00.
If this sounds like something you would be interested in doing, please visit our website for more information. You can register online at our registration page at your convenience. If you have any questions or just want more information, please do not hesitate to contact Tanya Hernandez at (805) 893-2166 or at [email protected]. We hope to see you in June!
Kind Regards,
Tanya Hernandez
