Lower School students poured out of buses and cars, Upper School students rushed out of their classes and down to the field, music blasted, decorations were up, and Jogathon began.
The all-school event on Oct. 12 started with Headmaster Paul Slocombe, speaking about Laguna’s new slogan ‘NOW’ and what it means to the school’s community.
Lower School students followed his speech by singing The Star Spangled Banner. Students then to took their places on the track.
Each student wore his or her “NOW” Laguna Blanca ‘NOW’ T-shirt and carried Laguna backpacks.
Each class then had an opportunity to yell as their grade was called over the loud speaker.

“I couldn’t believe it was finally time for me to stand under the twelfth grade flag,” said senior Olivia Berci.
The Laguna track has not seen so much life in a long time.
“I enjoy throwing water at people and the little kids in their headbands were really cute,” said junior Mitsi Gamble.
For an hour students ran around the track, all the while pouring water on fellow classmates. Every lap completed was rewarded with an “X” on the card on the student’s back.
Following the timed run, students made their way towards the gym to enjoy booths set up by various clubs and organizations on campus.
Each booth offered a unique activity for the students to do. Henna and face painting were offered. A petting zoo was set up, complete with goats, a llama, a miniature horse, and chickens.
Other booths had games like the ring toss or knock the bottles with candy prizes. Drama club hosted a new booth that allowed students to dress up and get pictures taken that were later posted on the drama club’s Instagram account.
Parents set up a Laguna wear booth where clothing and tickets for the catered barbeque were sold.
“I love being able to interact with the younger kids and watch them get so excited about running. It’s great to show them around the activities booths and have fun all together. This year’s Jogathon was so successful thanks to all the parents who organize everything,” said Junior Grace Woolf.
Jackets were put on, blankets were set out on the grass, food was served, and everyone finished the night eating on the field with their friends and family.
“Jogathon is a great way to not just bond with your class, but with the whole school,” said sophomore Olivia Avery.
