Luigi Mangione, a 26 year old man, was accused of killing Brain Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthCare, which is one of the largest healthcare corporations in the United States. This murder caught on camera has attracted millions of people around the world because of the importance of Brian Thompson but also Luigi’s back story and what led him to do this horrendous act. It was on December 4, 2023, Briin was shot and killed just outside of the New York Midtown hotel in Manhattan early in the morning. Seen in the CCTV video, Luigi appears to be hiding behind a car in a full black outfit with a mask and a backpack, then he walks onto the sidewalk and shoots him from behind. Then he fled the scene immediately. After a hunt for Luigi Mangione, he was found and arrested at a Mcdonalds on December 9 in Pennsylvania. He was also found with a notebook that laid out his whole entire plan and how he was going to successfully kill CEO Brian Thompson. Mangione now faces various counts at both the state and federal level. In the state of New York, he was indicted on 11 charges, which include first-degree murder, second-degree murder and other crimes like the possession of a weapon. These charges highlight the seriousness of the offense and its possible repercussions in the future.

He was put into a protective custody cell because of the high profile nature of this case and any dangers to his safety. In this center, other notable cell mates are Sean “DIddy” Combs.
