Santa Barbara is iconic for its beautiful scenery, lively town, and picturesque community. All of these factors feed into Santa Barbara’s charm and make for great spots to enjoy time with your friends and loved ones. Here are some of the best places to enjoy a picnic, a game of spike ball, or even a nap:

  1. The Rose Garden

With grass stretching far and wide in front of the mission, the Rose Garden is the perfect place to set up a picnic and marvel at Santa Barbara’s mission. Additionally, if you want to get a closer look, there are guided tours where one can view ancient artifacts and 17th-century art.

  1. Santa Barbara Botanic Garden

Covering 78 acres of land with over 1,000 species of indigenous plants, the Botanic Garden is the perfect place to learn about nature, enjoy a meal, or play a good game of hide-and-seek.

  1. The Abandoned Water Towers

Looking over gorgeous Goleta, the water towers are a hotspot for its view and taking pictures. Decorated with art and vibrant colors, the towers are great for a picnic or even a first date!

  1. Inspiration Point or Seven Falls Hikes

Whether you are looking for a view of all of Santa Barbara or magnificent waterfalls, both of these hikes serve as great places to spend time with your loved ones. These hikes are not easy but are a fun way to get some alone time with nature and your friends.

  1. Coronado Butterfly Preserve

Home to eucalyptus groves and unique wildlife, the Butterfly preserve is a great place to learn about animals and explore its creeks and meadows. Additionally, during the butterfly season (November-February), there are thousands of monarch butterflies covering the landscape.
