Science Teacher Zack Moore to Travel to Ghana on Fulbright Award
September 18, 2019
Laguna Blanca has some exciting news about one of our talented faculty members. Zachary Moore, Laguna’s STEM coordinator and science instructor, recently learned that he is the recipient of the Fulbright Distinguished Teacher Award. This is a tremendous honor that speaks to the countless qualities Mr. Moore brings to the students and the broader Laguna community each day.
As you may know, The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to build relations between the people of the United States and the people of other countries that are needed to solve global challenges. Mr. Moore is one of 13 U.S. citizens who will travel abroad as part of the program in 2019 and was selected on the basis of academic and professional achievement, as well as demonstrated leadership potential.
Mr. Moore is scheduled to be in Accra, Ghana in West Africa for the month of November. His work will focus on helping the Ghana-Lebanon Islamic School integrate STEM into their general curriculum and to inspire more females into STEM fields. Ghana holds a special place in Mr. Moore’s heart as he began his educational journey there as a Peace Corps volunteer twenty years ago.
Please join me in congratulating Mr. Moore for this extraordinary honor. We wish him well as he travels to West Africa to make a lasting impact in the curriculum at Ghana-Lebanon Islamic School.
Warmest regards,
Shane Lopes, Head of Middle School
Andrew Wooden, Interim Head of Upper School
