Basketball Stars to Look out for in the 2018-19 Season

  • Zion Williamson

Zion Williamson is a player unlike the game of basketball has ever seen before. Standing at six-foot eight-inches, 285 pounds, with a wingspan of six-foot ten-inches, this 19-year-old freshman is a freak of nature that makes offensive linemen look small. With the athleticism of a Michael Jordan, the strength of an NFL linebacker and the footwork of a dancer, saying Williamson is bound for anything less than greatness is an understatement.

  • Giannis Antetokounmpo

Although his name is hard to spell, Antetokounmpo’s game is easily recognizable. His six-foot ten-inch, 245-pound frame combined with incredibly long arms allows him to get anywhere on the court at any time he pleases. Antetokounmpo is no stranger to MVP caliber seasons, but as he enters his sixth year in the NBA, it is evident that he is hungry for that award, and not only that but an NBA Finals run as well. Through eleven games, the Bucks have gotten off to an impressive 9-2 start, thanks to Giannis’ 25.6 points per game, 12.9 rebounds per game and 5.6 assists per game. Look out for “Greek Freak” to continue putting up monster numbers.

  • Derrick Rose

Former MVP, Derrick Rose was one of the most electrifying players to watch in the history of the NBA. A

point guard who could explode through the lane and bounce 40 inches into the air to throw down a thunderous dunk was a feat we had not ever seen from any other guard. His career was put on hold, however, when he tore his ACL in the 2012 season and tore his meniscus twice during the 2013 and 2015 seasons. After battling many years of rehab, depression, and uncertainty, Rose landed a spot with the Minnesota Timberwolves this season and has shown the world that he is not going anywhere, averaging 18.6 points, 4.6 assists, and 3.5 rebounds a game. His 50 point game on Halloween will definitely not be all we see from Rose going forward.
