Pierce O’Donnell ’16 was invited to participate on Harvard’s panel regarding “Sports and Sexual Violence: A Community Discussion”.
Pierce was asked to be on the panel after participating in a freshman seminar class entitled “Creating a Culture of Respect on Campus.” The class of mostly young women, was taught by a Harvard Law School professor and the students crafted legislation to help ensure greater protection against gender violence. Last December they were invited to the White House to present their work.

Sports and Sexual Violence: A Community Discussion

Tuesday, April 4, 2017

From Baylor University to University of Minnesota to the Ivy League, 2016 saw a number of high profile gender violence and sex discrimination cases involving athletes. Are sports part of the problem? Can sports be part of the solution? What role should athletes, coaches, schools, athletic departments, and the NCAA play? A panel of athletes, sports industry representatives, legal experts, and activists will address these questions and others, as well as offer their reflections on how we all can contribute to creating a culture of sexual respect among athletes and the whole community.
