Carry-On Must-Haves

Carry-On+Must-Haves

With summer break coming up, many are going to go on vacation. Discovering new places is one of my favorite things, but as much as I love traveling, I must admit, long flights are the worst — so, here are a few things to pack in your carry-on to make your journeys a little less dreadful.

Coloring Book and Pencils

Now, I know this sounds silly, but coloring books are perfect for long flights. We can all spend hours doodling in-class, so why not do it on a plane?

Energy Bars

I absolutely hate airplane food — it reminds me of canned dog food — so I try to bring my own. Energy bars are a great solution for those of us who refuse to eat on airplanes. The bars don’t smell, don’t melt, aren’t messy to eat (so you don’t have to sit on crumbs for the rest of the flight), and are very compact because who wants to haul a whole suitcase of snacks.

Kindle

I love reading on flights — mainly because I get to read all of those books that I have been wanting to read for so long but never have had the time to. However, I don’t want to carry ten pounds of books with me on the plane, so I pack a Kindle instead: a magical device that has the ability to compile all your favorite books into its thin, portable self.

Lip Balm and Moisturizer

Airplanes are always insanely dry, so I recommend using plenty of lip balm and moisturizer — unless you want to come out of your flight looking like a piece of dehydrated fruit.

Portable Charger

I tend to watch an unhealthy amount of TV on planes (not that I don’t already do this every night), but I always end up killing the battery on all of my electronic devices within the first few hours of the flight, so I always make sure to pack a portable charger (if not two) because not all planes have outlets.
