While driving back from a day in L.A., Carina and I were starving and in the mood for something different and a little healthier than fast food. Using the Food Network app, we looked for somewhere to go near us, and a place called The Counter popped up. It was only about 10 minutes off the freeway so we got off and headed straight there, mouths watering. We took a seat at the bar—or what they call “the counter.” The waiter explained to us their menu of custom made burgers, which comes with restaurant choice burgers as well as sheets of paper in which you can choose each aspect of your burger. Some of the choices include different types of cheeses, buns, meat sizes, and a wide variety of toppings.
We started our order with an appetizer of garlic fries and sweet potato fries. They were delicious and perfectly crisp. For burger options, there is both a classic burger and a burger in a bowl. We got a classic burger called the BBQ to share between us. It came with onion rings, bacon, cheese, and barbecue sauce. It was a perfect mix of soft and crunchy, and the onion rings, along with the sweet barbecue sauce, added that extra something. Also, the service was great, and our food and drinks were processed in a timely manner.
Overall, I loved this restaurant and recommend it to anyone in the Santa Monica area. I cannot give this place less than five stars. The Counter is one burger joint that has never let me down: You pay 15 dollars for 50 dollar-tasting burger! I would definitely go again soon!
