Nintendo+Switch

Some of my fondest childhood memories include playing Super Mario 64 on my cousins’ Nintendo 64, trying to save Princess Peach in Super Mario Brothers on my DS Lite, and racing my other cousins in Mario Kart on their Wii. Super Mario 64 was always my favorite–the 3D graphics, large maps, and different power-ups made the game always interesting.

Earlier this year, Nintendo unveiled their newest game console, the Nintendo Switch.  The Switch has multiple ways to play: tabletop mode, TV mode, and a handheld mode. The Switch is currently being sold for $299 USD and there are multiple games available to play, such as Legend Of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8, Splatoon 2, and now Super Mario

Odyssey. Super Mario Odyssey is very much like a modern version of Super Mario 64, they both use 3D, exploration-based gameplay. In Super Mario 64, you collect various character’s hats to transform into them or get a superpower. In Super Mario Odyssey, Mario’s sidekick is a magical red hat named Cappy. Super Mario Odyssey also includes many nods to earlier games of the Mario franchise, such as the “flat” areas in certain levels, which reference the original Super Mario game. IGN rated the game 10/10 and critics have been saying nothing but positive things about it.
