What to Do on Plane and Car Rides

What to Do on Plane and Car Rides

Spring Break is coming fast with only one more week left until students and faculty get two weeks off to relax and recuperate for the fourth quarter. Spring Break is also a time to travel. Most can argue that plane and car rides can get painfully boring — even if you are traveling short distances. Thankfully, there are many ways to entertain yourself if you have nothing to do.

If you are interested in the arts, bring a book/magazine to read, a notepad to write your plans for the trip on, or a sketch pad to draw on. If you are more focused on the technological world, bring your laptop to watch movies and/or play video games on. You can also listen to music on your iPod or phone. If you are traveling with another person, bring a deck of cards to play with, or start up a game of 21 Questions. If you are on an airplane traveling alone, initiate a conversation with the passenger next to you because odds are, he or she is feeling just as bored as you. One can also daydream: imagining the clouds are shapes or pretending to be somewhere else. Making up a story is also a fun way to pass the time. Furthermore, if you have already done all these activities and are still bored, you can pass the final few hours by taking a nap!
